No. 30 Redlands Women's Tennis Dominates Rochester (NY), 8-1

The No. 30 University of Redlands women's tennis team swept the doubles matches en route to an 8-1 win over the University of Rochester (NY) in non-conference action at Verdieck Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

To get things going, senior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and first-year Halle Martinucci (Burlingame, CA) teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. First-year Mia Fitzgerald (Kauai, HI) and senior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) followed suit with an 8-3 win on court three, while sophomore Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) and junior Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) completed the doubles sweep at the No. 2 slot by securing another 8-3 triumph.

With a comfortable 3-0 lead, Martinucci dominated in a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles. Dolan put the match away with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 for the fifth and deciding match victory.

The Bulldogs continued to roll with 6-2, 6-2 wins coming from sophomore Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) and Johnson on the fourth and first courts, respectively. Kobayashi rounded out the Maroon and Gray's strong performance with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 to contribute to the 8-1 victory.

Redlands (3-4, 1-0 SCIAC) continues its non-conference slate against Haverford College (PA) on Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m.
