The No. 26 University of Redlands women's tennis team hosted the Whittier College Poets on Saturday at Verdieck Courts for Senior Day. After honoring the careers and commitment of seniors Tyler Garant (Anaheim Hills, CA) and Julia Haussmann (Seattle, WA), the Bulldogs secured the 8-1 victory with solid results.
In a fitting start to the match, Garant and Haussmann put Redlands on the board with their 8-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles slot. Sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) and junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) kept things rolling with an 8-4 triumph at No. 1, while sophomore Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) and junior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 result at the No. 2 position.
In singles, first-year Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) blanked her No. 4 opponent to extend Redlands' lead to 4-0. Lacy also made quick work of her No. 3 foe, as she secured the 6-1, 6-1 victory for the Bulldogs' deciding point.
Furthermore, Ikioka, Garant, and Haussmann each contributed singles victories.
The Bulldogs (11-8, 5-1 SCIAC) travel to No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for the final conference match of the regular season on Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m.
