Jackie Lacy smacks a forehand volley

The No. 26 University of Redlands women's tennis team welcomed the Regals of Cal Lutheran University to Verdieck Courts for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown on Friday afternoon.  Without dropping a set, the Bulldogs secured the 9-0 win in impressive fashion.

The Maroon and Gray swept the doubles to jump out to a solid start.  The No. 2 tandem of sophomore Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) and junior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) initiated the scoring with an 8-3 decision, while the top duo of junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) kept things rolling with an 8-5 win.  First-years Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) and Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) completed the sweep with their 9-7 showing at No. 3.

With momentum on their side, the Bulldogs continued to dominate in the singles, as Dolan blanked her No. 6 opponent in straight sets.  Lacy officially clinched the victory by defeating her No. 4 counterpart, 6-3, 6-4.

Furthermore, Ikioka, Kobayashi, Lehman, and Johnson all won in straight sets for the Bulldogs' 9-0 result.

Redlands (10-8, 4-1 SCIAC) hosts Whittier College on Saturday, April 14, for Senior Day on Verdieck Courts.  First serve is set for 10 a.m.
