No. 34 U of R Women's Tennis Upends No. 33 Lewis & Clark College (OR), 8-1

The No. 34 University of Redlands women's tennis team welcomed No. 33 Lewis & Clark College (OR) to Verdieck Courts on Saturday for an in-region match.  With efficiency and determination, the Bulldogs impressed with an 8-1 victory while handing the Pios just their second loss of the season.

In doubles, junior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) shut out their No. 2 foes to put Redlands on the board.  The No. 3 tandem of first-years Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) and Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) quickly followed suit with an 8-1 triumph.  Junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) completed the Bulldogs' sweep by topping the No. 1 duo in an 8-5 result.

In singles, Lehman kept things rolling at No. 3 with her dominating win, 6-0, 6-0, while Lacy officially put this one in the books with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4.

Furthermore, Ikioka, Kobayashi, and Dolan notched straight-set wins against their counterparts to secure the team's 8-1 win.

Redlands (7-6) looks forward to hosting another in-region opponent in No. 24 Linfield College (OR) on Tuesday, March 27, at 4:30 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
