The No. 34 University of Redlands women's tennis team faced off against No. 9 Wesleyan College (CT) in non-conference action on Verdieck Courts. The Bulldogs met a tough opponent in the Cardinals and fell by a score of 1-8.
Wesleyan took control early on and won all three doubles matches, with Redlands' No. 3 team of first-year Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) and junior Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) putting up the most competitive score of 8-6.
In singles, the Cardinals maintained that momentum with efficiency across the board. Sophomore Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) raced out to an early-set lead at No. 4 and won it, 6-1, but ultimately fell in a super-breaker in the third.
Redlands' only point came at No. 5, where first-year Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) cruised to a 6-1 win in the first and earned the victory when her opponent retired.
The Bulldogs (6-5) continue their tough slate of opponents by taking on seventh-ranked Bowdoin College (ME) on Tuesday, March 20, at 3 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
