The No. 35 University of Redlands women's tennis team traveled to Texas this weekend for a three-match, road trip that began against No. 16 Trinity University (TX) on Friday afternoon in San Antonio.  The Bulldogs came up short of the upset in a 1-8 decision to the Tigers.

Redlands battled in the doubles but struggled to win any of the matches. The tightest score came at the top spot, as junior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) and sophomore Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) fought to an 8-6 loss.

The Bulldogs' sole point came off the racket of Johnson, who captured a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 2 slot in singles.

First-year Lexi Lehman (Scottsdale, AZ) forced a third set in a tight showdown at No. 4 but fell by scores of 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

Redlands (3-2) returns to action on Saturday, March 3, with two non-conference matches in Texas.  First, the Bulldogs face No. 34 East Texas Baptist University at 8 a.m. before taking on No. 24 Southwestern University at 2 p.m.  Both matches will take place at Southwestern in Georgetown.
