No. 33 Redlands Women's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day with 6-3 Win over No. 40 Caltech

The No. 33 University of Redlands women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with a 6-3 win over the visiting Beavers of No. 40 Caltech in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown on Verdieck Courts.  After nabbing a 2-1 lead in doubles, the Bulldogs captured wins in the first three singles matches off the court to secure the positive result.

After recognizing the four-year contributions of senior Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT), the Bulldogs jumped on the board with an 8-5 win by freshman Sarah Ikioka (Wailuku, HI) and sophomore Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) at No. 1.  Although Caltech won at No. 2, Redlands regained the momentum with a hard-fought 9-7 effort by the No. 3 tandem of sophomore Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) and junior Claire Bohoskey (Yakima, WA).

Leading 2-1, the Bulldogs quickly extended their lead with Ikioka's efficient 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1.  Sophomore Madison Ross (San Diego, CA) kept things rolling for the Maroon and Gray with her win at No. 6 by the same score.  Dolan officially sealed the Bulldogs' victory with her 6-2, 6-0 performance at No. 5.

In addition, Murnin captured a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 win on her Senior Day to complete the Maroon and Gray's 6-3 outcome.

Redlands (8-10, 5-2 SCIAC) looks forward to hosting the SCIAC Championship Tournament on Friday, May 5, through Sunday, May 7, at Verdieck Courts.
