CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team returned to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Saturday with a tough road match-up against Claremont-M-S.

The Maroon and Grey who are still searching for their first win of 2022 had their offense shut down by the Athenas as they totaled just three goals across the 60:00 minutes, falling 22-3.

It was a slow first quarter with CMS jumping out to an 8-0 lead.  Erin Steinhour (Poway, CA) ended the run with a feed from Maeve Wiencek (Sherwood, OR) at the 3:48 mark, but the Bulldogs still trailed 10-1.  Only four goals were added in the 2nd Quarter.  Wiencek started the scoring off with an unassisted tally on the opening possession for the U of R.  But after that the Athenas would go on a 3-0 run giving them a 13-2 advantage at the half.

Out of the break CMS outscored the Bulldogs 6-1 extending their lead to 19-3.  The lone goal for Redlands coming from Maddie Bush (Ladera Ranch, CA) who would connect off a feed from Wiencek.  In the 4th, it was all CMS adding another three goals, while holding UR scoreless as they would run away with the victory.

Charlie Baum (Hesperia, CA) played all 60:00 minutes registering six saves against 28 shots along with five groundballs.  Wiencek added a goal and two assists, while Celine Flaig (Redondo Beach, CA) totaled two groundballs and five caused turnovers.

Redlands was efficient, completing 10-of-14 clear attempts, while picking up 17 groundballs and getting off 15 shots.

Redlands returns home to Farquhar Field next Saturday, March 12 at 7:00pm when they host Whittier College.
