Ashley Mossey Named Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at U of R

The University of Redlands and Bulldog Athletics excitedly announce the hiring of Ashley Mossey as the new full-time assistant coach for the women's lacrosse team under the direction of Head Coach Suzette Soboti.  Mossey will begin her new role on November 18.

"I look forward to this opportunity to start working with Coach Soboti and the entire women's lacrosse team at Redlands," Mossey stated. "Without a doubt, since my visit to this beautiful campus, Director of Athletics Jeff Martinez and Coach Soboti have made me feel like I was already a part of the Bulldog family. Redlands women's lacrosse is no stranger to succeeding on and off the field, and I am ready to immerse myself within that culture."

Mossey brings solid coaching experience at the collegiate, academy, and club levels over the last five years. She most recently served as the head coach at Becker College in Massachusetts where she helped the Hawks turn a 1-13 team into a 13-2 team in one year. She also helped this NCAA Division III program break numerous school records and earn New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Goalie of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year awards during the 2018-19 season.  In addition, Mossey offers knowledge of game management and equipment management.

Prior to working at Becker, Mossey gained three years of coaching experience at 6 Points URJ Sports Academy (NC), Marywood University (PA), NEPA Pirates Club (PA), and Wesley College (DE).

Mossey completed her Master of Arts in Sports Leadership at Wesley College in May 2016 while also working as the lacrosse graduate assistant coach. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management from Becker College in 2014.

As a women's lacrosse student-athlete, Mossey was voted the Becker College Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year her senior year. Among her impressive accolades, she landed on the All-NECC First Team, New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) All-Conference Second Team, became a four-time Becker MVP, and was the NECC Lacrosse Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014. She also holds Becker's all-time goals (232) and all-time points (246) records.

Off the field, she was Vice President of the Becker Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a committed staff member of the Be Like Brit Foundation.

"We are very excited and fortunate to have drawn an individual like Coach Mossey to our program.  Her success not only as a player, but most recently as a head coach, will help to continue to elevate our program," added Soboti.

Mossey replaces former assistant coach Samantha Keary, who resigned to pursue teaching opportunities.
