The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team squared off against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown in Claremont.  The Bulldogs faced an early deficit and struggled to recover en route to a 6-18 loss for their first defeat in four games.

After the Sagehens jumped out to a 7-0 lead, the Maroon and Gray responded with three consecutive goals over a four-minute span.  First-year attacker Joren Fettig (Bend, OR) and junior midfielder Sadie Pickering (Tacoma, WA) combined efforts on every goal, with Fettig scoring the first two and Picking notching the third.  In addition, Pickering provided the assist on the opening score.

However, Pomona-Pitzer closed the first half with another scoring spurt, which put Redlands in a 3-11 hole.

The Bulldogs battled in the second half but ran out of time to make up the difference.  Senior midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) fired off two goals, with Fettig assisting on the second.  In addition, Pickering found an open first-year attacker Maddie Bush (Ladera Ranch, CA), who uncorked the final goal for the Maroon and Gray.

Overall, Morford hauled in seven of Redlands' 10 draw controls.

Redlands (7-5, 1-5 SCIAC) takes on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Wednesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. on Farquhar Field.
