Redlands Women's Lacrosse Dominates Whitworth in Milestone Effort

The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team returned home to the friendly confines of Farquhar Field for a non-conference tilt against the Whitworth University (WA) Pirates on Monday evening.  With a total-team effort, the Bulldogs rolled to a 20-0 victory, as senior midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) eclipsed the 200-point mark with her first three goals of the game.  She went on to score two more to finish the night at 202 points for sixth all-time in Redlands women's lacrosse history.

Besides Morford, the Bulldogs gained early goals from senior attacker Kelsey Ruhl (Seattle, WA) and first-year attacker Maddie Bush (Ladera Ranch, CA) to quickly make it 5-0 by the 24:59-mark.  Redlands kept pressing offensively and owned a 10-goal advantage less than 10 minutes into the game.  Junior midfielder Sadie Pickering (Tacoma, WA) and first-year attacker Joren Fettig (Bend, OR) each had contributed a pair of goals by this point.

The Maroon and Gray continued to cruise en route to the 20-0 win over the young Pirate program.  This equaled the Bulldogs' largest margin of victory, matching a 20-goal differential in their 23-3 win over University of Dallas (TX) on February 27, 2010.

With the Pirates mustering only one shot, Redlands controlled possession for most of the night.  This began by winning 15 of the 21 draw controls, with Pickering snagging five of them and Morford grabbing three.

Among the many highlights, first-year midfielder Alison Waddles (Long Beach, CA) notched her first goal in a Bulldog uniform when she converted a free-position shot with 10:36 left in the first half.

First-year goalkeepers Annie Van Norstrand (Littleton, CO) and Kallie Collett (Manhattan Beach, CA) patrolled the Redlands' cage and maintained a clean sheet in the shutout.

Redlands (5-4) takes on the Maroons of the University of Chicago on Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m. on Farquhar Field.
