Terrific Trio Represents Redlands on IWLCA All-West Region Teams

It was announced earlier today that three University of Redlands women's lacrosse student-athletes garnered All-West Region accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).  Among the 256 All-Region recipients, senior midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR) represents the Bulldogs on the First Team, while sophomore defender Chelsea Sahami (Millbrae, CA) and senior goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) landed on the Second Team.

Bjorndal repeats as an All-West Region selection but earns her inaugural First-Team award in her final season with the Maroon and Gray.  As a prolific offensive weapon, she initiated the Bulldogs' opportunities by hauling in a school-record 124 draw controls during the 2018 campaign.  She now owns 263 in her four years at Redlands to rank second all-time.  In addition, Bjorndal fired off a team-best 41 goals to go along with eight assists for 49 points during her 17 starts.  She also snagged 40 ground balls and forced 26 opponent turnovers in a well-rounded effort.

Sahami becomes a first-time All-West Region honoree with a Second-Team distinction in just her second season with the Bulldogs.  A talented and tenacious defender, she picked up 22 ground balls and caused 19 opponent turnovers due to her great reach.  As the voice of the back line, she was key to the team's smooth transitions and shifts.  Her speedy stick work allowed her to grab 13 draw controls as well.

Finally, Egan collects back-to-back All-West Region nods following her First-Team honor in 2017.  This season, she caps her four-year Bulldog career with 16 starts in 17 games played as the team's top goalkeeper.  She racked up nearly 950 minutes between the posts while making 146 saves and registering seven wins.  Her defensive savviness also led to 16 opponent turnovers and 54 ground balls.  With 490 saves in her career, Egan now sits second all-time in Redlands history.
