No. 6 Redlands Women’s Golf Wins SCIAC No. 2 | Four Players Finish Inside the Top 5

POMONA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Golf team put together an impressive weekend during the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 2 Tournament, which was played at Mountain Meadows Golf Club.

The Bulldogs came away with the team victory posting rounds of 309-303 (+36 | 612) beating the second place finisher, Pomona-Pitzer by 18 strokes (313-317 = 630).  This is the second win on the season for the Maroon and Grey and the second time they came out on top at this same course when they beat Cal Lutheran in a head-to-head match-up back in February. 

Over the two days Redlands led the field in Par 3 Scoring (3.38 | +15), Par 4 Scoring (4.51 | +51), and Total Pars (93).  They also were No. 2 in Par 5 Scoring (5.00 | E) and Total Birdies (18).

Five Bulldogs finished inside the Top 10 with four of them landing within the Top 5, the most impressive team finish put together here in 2022.  Sophomore No. 35 Andrea York (Oakdale, CA) led the Maroon and Grey finishing 2nd overall in the field posting scores of 78-74 (152 | +8).  She shot +2 across the final 18 holes and moved up three spots after Day 1.  She totaled five birdies on the weekend and was No. 2 in Par 3 Scoring (2.88 | -1).

Fellow sophomore No. 58 Iris Liu (Diamond Bar, CA) was consistent over the two days with scores of 76-79 (155 | +11), which put her 3rd overall.  She was No. 2 in Par 4 Scoring (4.35 | +7) and No. 7 in Par 5 Scoring (5.00 | E).  After that we had a two-way tie for 5th with No. 6 Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) (84-73 | +13) and No. 67 Gabrielle Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) (74-83 | +13).  Jugar had the biggest jump for the Bulldogs moving up 13 spots after Day 1.  She was No. 2 in Par 5 Scoring (4.75 | -2) and added four birdies and 20 pars over the two days.  G. Kiger was sitting in 2nd Place after a solid opening 18, but dropped three spots after going +11 on the final day.  She led the Bulldogs with 5 birdies and added 19 pars. 

No. 29 Malia Kiger (Hermosa Beach, CA) bounced back after an opening round 82 to drop five strokes to a 77 (+15), which moved her up five spots into a tie for 10th.  The last scorer for Redlands was No. 77 Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) who went 81-80 (+17) that moved her into 15th.                 

Redlands gears up for the SCIAC Championships set to be played from April 24-26 in Beaumont, CA at Morongo Golf Club (Tukwet Canyon).
