The No. 8 Redlands women's golf team continues to thrill, winning its second-straight tournament, this time at the Bulldog Fall Classic on September 21 and 22. The team shined through two rounds, beating the nearest competitor by an astounding 12 strokes.
The team tops the record books with the new lowest two-round total of 587, which was previously set in the 2015-16 season at 588.
Despite shooting a very low 298 on round one, the Bulldogs shaved off an incredible nine strokes for a 289 on day two and a first-place total of 587. Redlands led the field in multiple categories including 28 birdies on the weekend.
First-year Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) paced the Maroon and Gray with a tied-for-second place finish. Jugar remained consistently low over the two days with a 145 total (71-74).
Junior Annie Hay (University Place, WA) followed extremely close behind, finishing in a three-way tie for fourth place at 146 (74-72). Hay recorded eight of the team's birdies and topped the competition shooting one-under on par fours for a 3.95 average.
Junior Mackenzie Kelly (Eastvale, CA) shot a 79 on day one but regrouped to trim her second-round score by nine strokes (70). Kelly completed the tournament with a 149 total and tied-for-eighth finish.
Junior Mariah Moon (La Quinta, CA) sat atop the leaderboard shooting three-under on par threes for a 2.63 average. She was also just one of two athletes to record an eagle at the tournament. Moon clipped four strokes off her first-day score for a grand total of 150 (77-73) and a tied-for-10th finish.
Sophomore Kendall Nicholson's (Bellevue, WA) tied-for-15th place rounded out the Redlands' golfers total. She shot a 76 and a 78 for a 156 total.
The Maroon and Gray return to action on Friday, September 27 for a tri-match against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and Chapman University. The team tees off at the Tustin Ranch Golf Course in Tustin.
