The No. 9 University of Redlands women's golf team looks forward to competing in the NCAA Division III Championships for the first time since 2016 and the third time since the program's inception in 2007. According to the NCAA's announcement, the Bulldogs gained one of four at-large bids to the national tournament and join 21 automatic qualifiers for the postseason opportunity. In addition, six individuals not from the selected teams will compete at the NCAA Championships, which take place May 14-17 at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) and Harris County-Houston Sports Commission will serve as hosts.
Redlands joins sixth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's team representatives at the national tournament. In addition, Chapman University's Emily Lewis was selected as one of the six individuals.
The Maroon and Gray took second at the recent conference championships, with sophomore Annie Hay (University Place, WA) leading the team with her second-place individual finish.
Furthermore, the Bulldogs gained solid contributions from first-year Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA), who was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year. She also joined Hay on the First Team, while senior Keilee Bessho (La Canada, CA) represented the Bulldogs on the Second Team.
According to GolfStat, the Bulldogs boast an adjusted scoring average of 77.77.
The championships include team and individual competitions taking place at the same time. After three rounds of action, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not included on one of those teams for the final 18 holes.
