Senior Caroline Ordian's Second-Place Showing Headlines Bulldogs' Results at SCIAC Women's Golf Championships

With senior Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) leading the way, the University of Redlands women's golf team concluded the three-day Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club with a score of 968 on Tuesday. 

Ordian completed her final SCIAC Championship Tournament with a 54-hole tally of 223 to take second place.  After shooting an opening 76, she improved in the subsequent rounds with scores of 73 and 74.  During the three rounds, she recorded five birdies and 35 pars, and tied for the lead among the field in par-five scoring with an even 5.00.  In addition, she was one of two players to earn an eagle at the event. 

First-year Annie Hay (University Place, CA) tied for 21st in her inaugural SCIAC Championship Tournament with a three-round total of 246.  After a tough first 18 holes, she improved with consistency to score a pair of 80s.  She finished the event among the top 20 in the field in par-three scoring (3.25), par-five scoring (5.42), and pars (26).

First-year Elise Kiya (Palo Alto, CA) closely followed in a tie for 26th by registering a 250 over the three days.  Her best round came on Monday when she signed her scorecard with a 78.  She ranked among the top 20 in par-three scoring (3.33) while shooting three birdies over the tournament.

First-years Makayla Sugidono (Scottsdale, AZ) and Emily Duncan (Murrieta, CA) completed the Bulldogs' scorers, with respective tallies of 259 and 265.  Sugidono tied for 32nd after bettering her opening 89 with rounds of 84 and 86.  Duncan bookended a rough second 18 holes with an 82 on Sunday and an 83 on Tuesday. 

As a result of the seven-round aggregate score, the Bulldogs completed the regular season with a sixth-place total of 2,310 strokes in the final SCIAC standings.

Redlands holds hope for Ordian's individual selection to the NCAA Division III Championships, with the announcement coming on Monday afternoon.
