No. 7 U of R Women's Golf Opens SCIAC Championship Tournament with Second-Place Showing

The No. 7 University of Redlands women's golf team teed off on Sunday at Los Serranos Golf Course in the first of three rounds of the 2017 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament.  With junior Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) leading the charge, the Bulldogs finished the day in second place with a team score of 323.

With the aggregate scoring, the Bulldogs remain in second place in the conference standings but now face a larger gap behind the leaders from 10th-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, which shot a 306 on Sunday.  Redlands has a total of 1,605 with two rounds to go, as compared to the Athenas' score of 1,577.

While notching two birdies and 12 pars, Ordian paced the Bulldogs with her opening score of 74 to place her second on Sunday's leaderboard.  She also co-leads the field in par-four scoring with an average score of 4.10 for plus one.

Seniors Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) and Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) both entered the clubhouse with an 18-hole tally of 82 to tie for 14th.  K. Gordon registered one birdie and 10 pars, while R. Gordon tallied 11 pars.

Freshman Jasmine Hsu (Fremont, CA) came in 19th through the first round by recording an 85 that included nine pars.  She joined Ordian and K. Gordon among the better golfers on the par-five holes by earning a plus-one average of 5.25.

Senior Jenna Durette (Oceanside, CA) battled through a tough day that resulted in a score of 94.
