No. 6 U of R Women's Golf Executes Strong Showing for Seventh Place at High-Caliber PLNU Reach Tournament

No. 6 University of Redlands women's golf team traveled to San Diego for the Point Loma Nazarene University Reach Tournament on Monday, February 6, and Tuesday, February 7. After sitting in 13th place through the first round, the Bulldogs showed great improvement on day two to secure a 36-hole score of 661 for seventh amongst a plethora of NCAA Division II, NAIA, and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schools.

Junior Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) led the pack by shooting a 79 on her first day, before knocking off three strokes for a 76 in round two to finish tied-for-ninth in the individual standings. Ordian managed to shoot plus-one on the par-five holes and notched 23 pars in the team's first outing of the spring.

Freshman Jasmine Hsu (Fremont, CA) led the Bulldogs and tied for third among the field with a total of four birdies in 36 holes of action. Both Hsu and senior Jenna Durette (Oceanside, CA) shot an 87 on the first day and cut five strokes off during the second day for an 82. Both women tied for 46th upon conclusion of the tournament.

Seniors Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) and Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) rounded out the group of five Bulldogs. Both women improved upon their first-day scores.  K. Gordon went from an 89 to an 82 on the second day, while R. Gordon endured a challenging first day that resulted in an uncharacteristic 94, before regrouping for a 14-stroke improvement to an incredible 79. Each also recorded three birdies at the tournament.

Redlands looks forward to the first SCIAC tournament on Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26, at the San Dimas Golf Course in San Dimas.
