Redlands Women’s Basketball Announces 2022-23 Recruiting Class

REDLANDS, Calif. – Rich Murphy, Head Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Redlands announced his 2022-23 recruiting class Monday, which includes nine first years.

The Bulldogs who are looking to go back to back with SCIAC Regular Season Championship Titles have added depth at every position.      

"I could not be more excited about this year's recruiting class," Murphy explained. "Each young woman brings something uniquely valuable to the program and I look forward to seeing how each player develops, both on and off the court. I am confident this group will continue to help us win consistently and add to an already successful program. I am grateful we will have veteran leadership that will teach them the Bulldog way of success."

Aliyah Anderson | Oceanside, CA | El Camino High School | Guard/Forward | 5'8"

Accolades: Player of the Year - Avocado League East (2020, 2022), All-CIF Team San Diego County (2021, 2022), Cal Hi Sports All State (2021), 1st Team All-League (4x), School Free Throw Record (78%), School Rebounding Record - 21 in a game (Tied -2019), 1800 Career Points, Four Year Varsity Team Captain, All Freshmen Team - San Diego County (2019)

Strengths: I feel the strengths that I will bring to the program include my work ethic and always wanting to make myself and my teammates better. My versatility on both ends of the court and my energy are another thing that I will contribute to making our team great.

Why Redlands?: I chose the University of Redlands because of the great balance between school and basketball coupled with the amazing teammates and coaching staff that made me feel so welcome.

Most Excited For: I am really excited to meet new friends and make great memories on and off the court. 

Caitlyn Constantino | Riverside, CA |Notre Dame High School | Guard | 5'3"

Accolades: MVP, Captain, Most Offensive Player, Sniper Award (Best Shooter), Principals Honor Roll (4.0 GPA)

Strengths: Speed and being able to hit the long three!

Why Redlands?: It had everything I was looking for, from a great coaching staff to friendly teammates, not to mention it was close to home and had a really good program for my major.

Most Excited For: Making new friends!

Carly Hicks | Portland, OR | Jesuit High School | Guard | 5'7"

Accolades: Honor Roll, National Honors Society, 1st Team All-League

Strengths: I bring a high level of dedication and competitiveness.

Why Redlands?: I chose the University of Redlands because of the great experience I had on my visit

Most Excited For: I am looking forward to my new teammates

Colbi Zorich | Kenmore, WA | Inglemoor High School | Forward | 5'10"

Accolades: 1st Team All-King Conference, 2x State Appearance, Team Captain, 4-Year Varsity, State Player of the Game

Strengths: Defense, strength, and hustle

Why Redlands?: Perfect fit for the academics and the beautiful campus as well as a great basketball program

Most Excited For: Meeting new people and playing at a collegiate level

Jenna Schmitt | Bellevue, WA | Interlake High School | Guard/Forward | 5'9"

Accolades: Student of the quarter, Volunteer Club, Link Crew, 3.5+ GPA, Honorable Mention, 2nd Team All-League

Strengths: Work ethic, positive energy, determination and shooting

Why Redlands?: I chose the University of Redlands because of the great academic and athletic balance while receiving a great quality education. With smaller class sizes, this experience allows me to connect with my peers and of course I can't forget trying out the sunny weather.

Most Excited For: I am excited to meet and bond with my teammates and to play at the next level

Krista Karban | Murrieta, CA | Murrieta Valley High School | Center | 6'3"

Accolades: National Honor Society, Valedictory Circle, Top 20 in the Nation Business Plan Team, Defensive Player of the Year (3x), 3rd Most Blocks in a single season in California

Strengths: I'm bringing a competitive attitude as well as a willingness to learn and improve my skills

Why Redlands?: I chose the University of Redlands because of how beautiful the campus is and the chemistry and family dynamic of the basketball program.

Most Excited For: I'm excited about being in a more competitive environment

Laurel Headrick | Centennial, CO | Cherry Creek High School | Forward | 5'10"

Accolades: Academic All-State, State Champion, Co-State Champion

Strengths: Leadership, dedication, court vision, and shooting!  

Why Redlands?: Everyone made me feel so welcome and at home when I visited, the basketball program's history of success, the strong academics, and the community service focus.

Most Excited For: I'm really excited to be a part of the Bulldog family and join such a respected team! Also, to escape the cold winters. 

Leila Hosn | Shoreline, WA | Bishop Blanchet High School | Guard | 5'6"

Accolades: Defensive Player of the Year, MVP, 2nd Team All-Metro, Team Captain, State Appearance (2x)

Strengths: Speed, defense, hustle

Why Redlands?: It was perfect fit for great academics along with a great basketball program and coaching staff.

Most Excited For: Meeting new people and getting to work

Nataly Bravo | Spring Valley, CA | Mount Miguel High School | Guard | 5'8"

Accolades: Newcomer of the Year as a freshman really motivated me to keep dreaming about playing at the next level.

Strengths: I consider myself a three-point shooter, always putting my max effort in even when I feel like I can't and will always bring the energy to the team, while being supportive.

Why Redlands?: I chose the University of Redlands because the second I arrived to the school I felt welcomed and I knew I was going to be able to be myself here.  The basketball program is also amazing and full of great players who I know will become a family. 

Most Excited For: I'm excited to make a lot of new friendships, get the best experience at the University of Redlands, and grow more as a person and a basketball player.
