Clutch Shooting Leads to Junior Guard Cassandra Lacey's Second SCIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week Award

Junior guard Cassandra Lacey (Victorville, CA) lit up the scoreboard in the final week of the regular season en route to being named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week. She not only scored a career-high on Wednesday but hit a game-winner to punch the University of Redlands' ticket to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.

To begin the week, Lacey proved to be unstoppable with a career-high 34 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, of a 74-67 victory over Cal Lutheran University to keep the Bulldogs' playoff hopes alive. She shot an efficient 12-for-19 from the field and 9-for-10 from the charity stripe while also providing six rebounds. In a must-win game against Caltech in the regular-season finale, Lacey produced another strong fourth quarter with eight points, including the game-winner, for the Bulldogs' 52-51 victory. She scored 17 on the night with a 7-for-12 outing from the field and added four rebounds and a pair of assists.

Overall, she shot a remarkable 61.3% from the floor, hit both of her three-pointers, and converted all but one of her 12 free-throws.

Lacey currently leads the conference in scoring with 18.1 points per game this season.

This is Lacey's second such award for the 2018-19 season, following her selection on January 21.
