The fourth-seeded University of Redlands women's basketball teamed faced off against the top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Athenas in one of two semifinals of the 2016 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament on Thursday. After defeating the Athenas earlier in the week, the Bulldogs failed to gain any momentum and struggled throughout tonight's contest en route to a 47-70 defeat and elimination from the conference tournament.

CMS began the game with 13-4 run to put the Bulldogs in an early hole. Senior forward Brinsley Farry (Ventura, CA) axed the run by hitting a trey-ball, which was backed by a free-throw from junior guard Selena Iriarte (Wilmington, CA). Farry flushed another jumper to cap off the first-quarter scoring for the Bulldogs, but Redlands trailed by the score of 10-18 after 10 minutes of action.

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were ice cold in the second stanza, scoring only six points, and faced a 16-42 deficit at the halftime break.

Farry attempted to put the offensive train back on the tracks in the opening possession of the third quarter by drilling a jumper. Junior guard Jade Cheldelin (Portland, OR) and sophomore forward Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) supplied two points each to trim the deficit to 20 at the 6:32-mark.

Sophomore forward Allison Siksnus (Placentia, CA) got into the mix by hitting a three-pointer, before junior guard Yoemma Esparza (Shafter, CA) rolled in a lay-up for two points at the end of the third quarter.

Junior forward Brooke Hulett (Poway, CA) and Farry added three-pointers to highlight the Maroon and Gray's fourth-frame efforts, but the deficit was too large to overcome en route to the season-ending defeat.

Farry highlighted the Bulldogs with 10 points and five rebounds, while Ta'amu hit the boards for 10 rebounds while adding six points.

Hulett led the bench in scoring with five points.

After advancing to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament for the ninth-straight time, the Bulldog women's basketball team finishes the 2015-16 season with an overall record of 12-14 and a conference record of 9-7.
