Redlands Track & Field Claim a Pair of First-Place Finishes at the NAU Tune-Up

The University of Redlands indoor track & field team showcased their talent at the NAU Tune-Up at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona on Friday.

Highlighting the day, senior Chyenne Kimble Big Bear Lake, CA) and junior Brenna Dolen (Redlands, CA) each earned gold-medal finishes in the 60 Hurdles and Triple Jump, respectively.

Kimble finished first in the prelims of the 60 Hurdles with senior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) on her hip in second with times of 8.74 and 8.84, respectively. In the final, Kimble found her rhythm and stopped the clock in 8.73 to claim first place. Fields was close behind in 8.79 for third. Kimble's time is currently the third-fastest time in the country, while Fields' time of 8.75 earlier this season is the fourth. Kimble also claimed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 8 ¼" later in the day.

Also topping the competition, Dolen set the standard in the Triple Jump with a leap of 37' 9 ½", one foot further than any other competitor.

After finishing in fifth in the 60-Meter prelims, first-year Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA) took second in the finals by shaving .04 second off her time in 7.71. In the 400-Meter finals, junior Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) clocked in at 59.05 for a fifth-place finish.

On the men's side, senior Maliq Champion (Beaumont, CA) represented the Bulldogs with a third-place finish in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 21.97, which is tied for the second-fastest time in Division III.

Redlands' indoor team prepares for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday, March 13, while the outdoor team competes at the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 1 meet on Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m.
