The University of Redlands track & field teams continued the Bulldogs' recent trend of earning academic recognition when the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2019 All-Academic Teams and Individuals on Tuesday.  Overall, the Maroon and Gray gained two team selections and nine individual awards for a total of 11 honors.

The Bulldog men's and women's squads each landed among the 297 NCAA Division III recipients for All-Academic Teams that surpassed the minimum 3.00 grade-point average (GPA) and finished well at the NCAA Championships.  Among the 113 men's programs to be recognized, Redlands collectively registered a team GPA of 3.25, while the U of R women reached a mark of 3.49 as one of 184 teams to be honored.

In addition, three men and six women represented the Bulldogs among the individual honorees for gaining success at the national level while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.  Redlands' nine standouts either competed at the NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Track & Field Championships or finished the regular season ranked in the top 50 for an individual event or in the top 35 for a relay among the NCAA Division III Descending Order List in 2019.

To complement an already-illustrious career, senior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) earns his third such academic award from the USTFCCCA.  This season, he became a three-time All-American by contributing to the 4x100 Relay that finished eighth with a time of 42.82 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.  He also ranked 13th in the 200 Meters by clocking a 21.38 and finished the indoor season with a national ranking of 44th in the 60 Meters with a time of 6.96.

Sophomore Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) also repeats as an All-Academic member in his second season with the Bulldogs.  In outdoor track, he ranked first in the 800 Meters by unleashing a time of 1:50.27.  In addition, he owned top-50, indoor times for the mile (36th – 4:12.80) and 800 (42nd – 1:53.79).

Rounding out the talented men's trio, junior Tyler Lufkin (Yucaipa, CA) hauls in his first academic honor as a Bulldog.  He impressed in the Decathlon by tallying 6,167 points for 32nd among the Descending Order List for outdoor track & field.

As a four-time honoree, senior Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) headlines the Bulldogs' six recipients from the women's team.  This season, she excelled in the multi-events by earning a Pentathlon score of 3,105 for 42nd in indoor competition and a Heptathlon tally of 4,595 to rank 14th during the outdoor season.

Junior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) and sophomore Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) each reel in their second All-Academic selections.  Kimble produced solid marks in the hurdles, resulting in the 12th-best time in the 60 Hurdles (8.90) and the fifth-fastest mark in the 100 Hurdles (14.19).  She and Albrecht also contributed to the stellar 4x100 Relay that clocked a time of 46.74 to rank third in the nation, while Albrecht produced a Heptathlon score of 4,280 to land 34th.

Senior Ellie Ramsey (Waterbury, VT), junior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV), and first-year Courtney O'Neal (Atlanta, GA) gain this scholarly achievement for the first time in their respective careers.  A solid distance runner, Ramsey fired off a time of 11:07.28 in the 3000 Steeplechase to sit 27th in the nation.  Fields breaks into the list of scholarly honorees due to her hurdling talents.  During the outdoor season, she finished second in the rankings for the 100 Hurdles with a time of 13.97 and landed fourth in the 400 Hurdles at 1:01.05.  She also ranked 36th in the 60 Hurdles for indoor track & field. Finally, O'Neal offered her talents to the Bulldogs' successful 4x100 Relay.

In total, the USTFCCCA recognized 462 men and 631 women.
