Following a magnificent showing from the University of Redlands men's and women's track & field teams, the Bulldogs have garnered 20 All-Conference nods as determined by their top-three finishes at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships, which took place on April 27-28.
Among the many highlights, the Bulldogs earned two of the conference athletes of the year, as voted upon by the head coaches of the member institutions. Junior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) was named the SCIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year and senior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) represented the Maroon and Gray as the SCIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Year. During the conference championships, Fields won the 100 Hurdles and the 400 Hurdles by uncorking nationally-ranked times of 14.10 and 1:01.05, respectively. After a week on top of the NCAA Division III Descending Order List, she now ranks third in the nation in each event but continues to lead the West.
Fields also ran on the 4x400 Relay that finished fifth at the SCIAC Championships with a time of 4:02.27.
Bohlinger successfully defended his individual titles in the 100 Meters and 200 Meters during this year's conference championships. He ran a 10.62 to win the shorter race and then fired off a time of 21.38 in the 200 to take home the gold in that event. Finally, he contributed his speedy talent to the first-place 4x100 Relay that uncorked a time of 41.45.
Nationally, Bohlinger currently ranks 11th in the 100 Meters and 10th in the 200 Meters.
Overall, the women collected 12 podium finishes, including 11 individual awards and one relay.
