Redlands Track & Field Excels at Jim Click Shootout Multis

The University of Redlands track & field teams gained awesome representation from their five members at the Jim Click Shootout Multis in Tucson, Arizona, on Thursday and Friday.  With multiple career-best efforts, the Bulldogs gained incredible experience against top-notch competition.

Junior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) amassed a career-high 4,608 points in the Heptathlon to finish third in Group B, with only the Air Force Academy and New Mexico Highlands University ahead of her. Among her highlights, Kimble won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 14.37 and finished second in the 200 Meters by completing the race in 25.91.  In addition, she produced a fourth-place mark of 32' 5 ½" in the Shot Put.  She cleared a height of 4' 11 ¾" in the High Jump to register a career-best mark.

Senior Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) finished fifth with a career-best score of 4,481 points.  She took second in the Shot Put with a heave of 34' 11 ¾".  In addition, she recorded a career-best mark in the Javelin Throw with her fourth-place effort of 101' 3".  Finally, her time of 2:29.36 in the 800 also serves as the best in her career and landed her fifth at the meet.

Sophomore Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) impressed as well by accumulating the best score in her Heptathlon career at 4,280 for eighth place.  She finished third in the 800 Meters with a career-best time of 2:26.71. In addition, she uncorked a fourth-place time of 26.21 in the 200 while also earning the best marks of her career in the Long Jump (16' 11 ¼") and Shot Put (29' 5 ¼").

For the Bulldog men, the high-caliber marks continued, with junior Tyler Lufkin (Yucaipa, CA) taking second in the Decathlon with a score of 6,167, which was just 111 points behind the winner of Group B.  He won the 1500 Meters by uncorking a time of 4:33.61.  He also took third in the Discus Throw with a career-best mark of 108' 11" and in the 400 with a career-best time of 50.62.  He also notched the best of his career in the 100 (11.42), 110 Hurdles (16.15), High Jump (5' 7" ¼"), Pole Vault (11' 5 ¾"), and Javelin Throw (138' 11").

Sophomore Jason Waters (Troutdale, OR) also excelled in the Decathlon by earning a score of 5,533 points for seventh place.  His top results of the meet came off the 110 Hurdles and Pole Vault, as he finished second in each event with career-best marks of 15.93 and 13' 5 ¼", respectively.  He also captured the top results of his career in the Discus Throw (90' 8"), Long Jump (19' 6"), 100 Meters (11.63), and 400 (52.82).

The Bulldog track & field teams head to Claremont on Saturday, April 6, for the Pomona-Pitzer Invite at 9 a.m.
