Bulldog Track & Field Unleashes Solid Marks at Oxy Distance Carnival and Sprint Festival

Various members of the University of Redlands track & field teams competed in the annual Occidental Distance Carnival and Sprint Festival on Saturday in Eagle Rock. 

Junior Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) earned the Bulldogs' best finish of the meet by taking fourth in the 10,000 Meters with a time of 38:14.36.

In the 800, first-year Jamir Jones (Fairfield, CA) fired off a career-best time of 1:57.72 to take 10th, while sophomore Trevor Brouelette (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) crossed the finish line 1:59.61 for 23rd.  For the women, junior Kami Fernandez (Tustin, CA) posted a time of 2:34.76 to tie for 33rd overall, with first-year Ashlynn Allen (San Bernardino, CA) completing the second lap not that far behind in 2:35.87 for 37th.

In addition, sophomore Desiree Cadena (San Jose, CA) stopped the clock in 4:55.80 for a career-best in the 1500 Meters for 23rd place, while junior Nolan Ridgeway (Long Beach, CA) represented the men in the same event with his 30th-place mark of 4:11.95.

Senior Joseph Esparza (Arcata, CA) ran the men's 5K in 15:17.71 for 68th overall and a new career-best, as senior Ellie Ramsey (Waterbury, VT) competed in the women's race in a career-best time of 18:56.61 for 82nd.

The Bulldog track & field teams host the Redlands Invitational on Friday, March 15, at 3 p.m. in Ted Runner Stadium on Ashel Cunningham Track.
