Talented Trio Makes Bulldog History with Qualification for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

It was announced on Sunday afternoon that three University of Redlands student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, which take place Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  Graduate student Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA), junior Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA), and sophomore Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) all make their inaugural trip to this national meet as the largest class of Bulldog qualifiers for indoor track & field.  In addition, Cargile becomes the first-ever men's indoor qualifier from Redlands.

Ta'amu enters the event as the top-ranked woman in the Shot Put with a mark of 50' 11".  She made this toss at her inaugural indoor meet on February 1 during the Mountain T's Invitational at Northern Arizona University.

Kimble qualifies for the 60 Hurdles with a time of 8.90, which came at altitude in Flagstaff, Arizona, during the NAU Tune-Up Meet on February 15.  She currently sits 10th among those headed to the indoor championships.  In addition, Kimble becomes the third Bulldog in as many years to represent Redlands in the 60 Hurdles, following in the footsteps of junior Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) in 2018 and Alison Smith '17 in 2017.

Finally, Cargile heads to Boston to compete in the Mile with his seed time of 4:12.80, which he ran at altitude during the NAU Tune-Up Meet.  He ranks 19th among the qualifiers.

The University of Massachusetts at Boston serves as the host of the upcoming meet.
