Bulldog Track & Field Garners 31 All-Region Awards

22 Bulldogs collected 31 All-Region awards for outdoor track & field

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (UTFCCCA) formally announced the All-Region recipients for the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Season, as determined by the top-5 individuals and the top-3 relays from each region.  For the University of Redlands, 12 men collected 17 awards and 10 women earned 14 awards in a stellar showing for the Bulldogs.

Junior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) headlines the men's recipients as a three-time honoree this season with top-5 marks in the 100 Meters, 200 Meters, and as a member of the 4x100 Relay.  He brings his career total to six outdoor All-Region nods.  Bohlinger currently leads the West Region in both sprints with blistering times of 10.43 and 21.08, respectively.  He joins forces with sophomore Maliq Champion (Beaumont, CA), and first-years Domanick Murray (Palm Springs, CA) and MJ Wheeler (St. Louis, MO) as the fastest foursome in the region with a time of 41.20.  As a result, Champion earns his third All-Region award. 

In addition, junior Nick Burchett (Gold River, CA) becomes a five-time, outdoor honoree with two All-Region awards this season.  He currently ranks third in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 53.47 and contributes to the second-fastest 4x400 Relay in the West.  He combined efforts with sophomore Jordan Washecheck (Tulsa, OK), and first-years Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) and Marvin Perkins Jr. (Las Vegas, NV) to register an outstanding time of 3:18.45.

Cargile hauls in an additional All-Region nod with the West's second-fastest time in the 800 Meters at 1:51.44.  Washecheck also secures his second such honor of the season by ranking third in the 400 Meters with a time of 48.54. 

Junior Joseph Esparza (Arcata, CA) and senior Afari La-Anyane (Moran Hill, CA) add to the illustrious list of Bulldog honorees by earning All-Region awards in the 3000 Steeplechase and the 110 Hurdles, respectively.  Esparza received his inaugural such award by sitting third in the region with his time of 9:16.42, while La-Anyane boasts the second-fastest time of 14.85 to reel in the third All-Region nod of his career.

Finally, senior Wyatt Pannabecker (Choteau, MT) and sophomore Mykel Campos (Dinuba, CA) represent the Bulldogs as a formidable 1-2 combination in the Triple Jump.  Pannabecker leads the region with his leap of 47' 9 ¾" to receive his third such honor, while Campos owns the second-best mark at 46' 10 ¼" for his inaugural All-Region award.

For the women, the sophomore sensations of Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) and Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) combine for six awards for the Bulldogs.  Fields earns the honor with the region's top time in the 100 Hurdles at 14.07 while ranking second in the 400 Hurdles with a mark of 1:02.06.  Kimble joins her in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 14.41 to sit third in the region.  They also gain the honor for the 4x100 Relay that includes first-year Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) and senior Sophie Brooks (Seattle, WA), and ran the third-fastest time in the West at 47.74. 

Furthermore, Kimble hauls in her third All-Region award of the season with a score of 4,487 in the Heptathlon to rank third in the West.

Fields now owns four outdoor All-Region nods, while Kimble brings her career total to six.

Senior Justine Keller (Portland, OR) becomes an All-Region selection in the 800 Meters for the first time in her career after posting the fifth-best time of the season at 2:15.73.  Senior Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) lands on the elite list for the 10,000 Meters by ranking fifth with a time of 37:19.04. 

In addition, senior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) repeats as an All-Region selection for the third time in the High Jump, with this year's honor coming off the top mark at 5' 6 ½".  Senior Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) and sophomore Gabriella Gould (Bellingham, WA) each represent the Bulldogs among the best in the West for the Pole Vault.  Widen sits second with a school-record height of 12' 4" for her second such accolade, while Gould owns the fifth-best mark of 11' 7 ¾" to secure her second such award as well.  Finally, senior Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) leads the region with her school-record throw of 49' 8 ½" in the Shot Put to earn back-to-back awards.
