U of R Women’s Track & Field Climbs to No. 20 in USTFCCCA National Rankings

Bulldog women's track & field rank 20th in Division III

The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the newest rankings for NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field, with the University of Redlands women's team landing at No. 20. 

Based on a mathematical formula that calculates points from the current NCAA Division III Descending Order Lists, the Bulldogs amassed 51.65 points to move up four spots from last week's ranking. 

Sophomore Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) currently sits third in the nation in the Heptathlon with 4,487 points.  Junior Kara Romani (Sacramento, CA) and first-year Hannah Albrecht (Cottage Grove, OR) bolster the Bulldogs in this event by ranking 11th (4,243 points) and 16th (4,083), respectively.

Furthermore, senior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) owns the fourth-best mark in the country in the High Jump at 5' 5 ¾".  Senior Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) and sophomore Gabriella Gould (Bellingham, WA) shore up the 14th spot among the best pole vaulters in the country with the same height of 11' 7 ¾", while senior Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) impresses in the Shot Put with the 15th-best heave of the season at 43' ½".

The Bulldogs' 4x100 Relay of Albrecht, sophomore Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV), Kimble, and Romani ranks eighth in NCAA Division III with a time of 48.49, as sophomore Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) represents the Maroon and Gray among the best in the 10,000 Meters with her 12th-ranked time of 37:23.88.

The Redlands women also climb up on spot in the region to No. 3, with 20 marks among the top eight in the West.  Blanchard and Ta'amu currently sit atop the regional rankings in their respective events.

Although not ranked nationally, the Bulldog men's track & field team sits third in the region as well, as highlighted by 15 top-eight marks.  Senior Wyatt Pannabecker (Choteau, MT) remains first in the West in the Triple Jump with a leap of 47' 7 ¾", with sophomore Mykel Campos (Dinuba, CA) closely following in third at 45' 5 ¼".  In addition, junior Luke Bohlinger (Mercer Island, WA) owns the second-fastest time in the 100 (10.71), with sophomore Jordan Washecheck (Tulsa, OK), junior Nick Burchett (Gold River, CA), and first-year Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) each ranking second in their respective events of 400 Meters (48.54), 400 Hurdles (54.61), and 800 Meters (1:53.97).

The Redlands track & field teams look forward to competing in the final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) multi-dual meet of the season on Saturday, April 14, in Claremont.
