Sophomore Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) represented the University of Redlands at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday in Birmingham, AL, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Despite running the second-fastest time of her heat, Fields just missed out on a qualifying time for the finals.  During the preliminaries, she completed the 60 Hurdles in 8.95 seconds, which placed her in a tie for eighth overall, with the top eight competitors moving onto Saturday's finals.  Unfortunately, extending the time out to the 1000th of a second left Fields on the outside of the qualifiers by 0.005.

This was Field's first appearance at the national indoor championships and she looks forward to future opportunities on the outdoor track throughout the current season.

The Redlands track & field teams compete on Saturday, March 10, at the Oxy Distance Festival and Sprint Carnival in Eagle Rock at 2 p.m.
