Bulldog Track & Field Impresses at Mountain T Invitational and Multis

Select members of the University of Redlands track & field teams headed to Northern Arizona University for the Mountain T's Invitational and Multis.  While competing in the indoor events for the first time in 2018, the Bulldogs showed great promise for a fantastic season ahead.

Among the highlights, sophomore Jessica Fields (Las Vegas, NV) fired off a second-place time of 8.89 in the 60 Hurdles, which lands her fourth among NCAA Division III runners.  Sophomore Chyenne Kimble (Big Bear Lake, CA) closely followed in third place with a time of 9.38.

Senior Mandy Widen (Vail, AZ) started her final campaign off with a bang by clearing a winning height of 12' ½" in the Pole Vault to rank sixth in Division III. 

Senior Vanessa Blanchard (Palmdale, CA) also picked up right where she left on last season in the High Jump with a second-place mark of 5' 5". 

In the Pentathlon, Kimble won the competition with a grand total of 3,013 points.  She ran a first-place time of 2:37.21 in the 800 while also crossing the finish line ahead of the crowd in the 60 Hurdles in 9.30.  Finally, she captured the top mark of 16' 6 ½" in the Long Jump.

For the men, the 4x400 Relay of junior John Pease (Fallbrook, CA), first-year Marvin Perkins Jr. (Las Vegas, NV), first-year Domanick Murray (Palm Springs, CA), and sophomore Jordan Washecheck (Tulsa, OK) unleashed a second-place time of 3:26.14. 

Sophomore Mykel Campos (Dinuba, CA) impressed in the Triple Jump by leaping to a second-place mark of 43' 2 ¼".

Senior Afari La-Anyane (Morgan Hill, CA) finished second in the Heptathlon with 4,299 points, which included a pair of first-place showings in the 1000 Meters (3:16.31) and High Jump (5' 10 ¾").

Redlands returns to Flagstaff on Friday, February 16, for the NAU Tune-Up Meet at 4 p.m.
