Bulldogs Garner Spots on All-SCIAC Swimming & Diving Teams

It was officially announced on Wednesday that the University of Redlands earned eight All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) awards among six Bulldogs for their top-three finishes at the recent championship meets.

Senior Wendy McAleer (Simi Valley, CA) represents the Maroon and Gray women among the honorees with a pair of awards.  She fired off a school-record time of 55.94 for an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 Fly for third place.  She also registered a bronze-medal performance in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:06.27, which ranks as a season-best for the Bulldogs and third all-time in Redlands' history.  Overall, she secured three All-SCIAC nods in her two years as a swimmer.

The men's team gained seven All-SCIAC awards in a solid showing, with senior Aaron Bauer (Garden Grove, CA) and first-year Samuel Ayers (Orinda, CA) each earning two as individuals and one with a relay.  Bauer and Ayers went 1-2 in the 100 Free with respective times of 45.37 and 45.48.  These marks place the duo among the Bulldogs' top-10 times as well.

Bauer touched the wall third in the 50 Free with a speedy time of 20.78 to gain another All-SCIAC nod.  Ayers repeated that effort in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.29.

Finally, the talented tandem joined forces with junior Carson Brett (Exeter, CA) and senior Lucas Ulmer (Camas, WA) in the 400 Free with a second-place time of 3:03.01 to earn All-Conference honors.

Bauer returned to the All-SCIAC podium for the first time since doing so as a first-year member of the 200 Medley Relay in 2017.

In addition, junior Jacob Miner (Antioch, CA) captured a third-place score of 475.95 in three-meter diving to land among the All-SCIAC selections for the fifth time in his career.  Miner and junior Sami Scarano (Boulder, CO) head to Grinnell College (IA) for the NCAA Division III Region 2 Championships on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2.
