Redlands Sends Two Divers to NCAA Regional Championships this Weekend

It was confirmed on Monday that the University of Redlands has qualified two divers for the NCAA Division III Region 2 Diving Championships, which take place at Grinnell College's (IA) Russell K. Osgood Pool on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2.  Juniors Sami Scarano (Boulder, CO) and Jacob Miner (Antioch, CA) will represent the Bulldogs in the elite competition for the third time in as many years.

Scarano and Miner will compete in the one-meter and three-meter events.

Scarano enters the NCAA Regional Championships with a season-high score of 422.10 points on the one-meter board, which came during the preliminaries of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.  She finished the event in fifth place.  Her best three-meter score of 371.20 landed her in seventh place at the SCIAC Championships.

Miner's top one-meter score of 478.10 advanced him onto the final of the SCIAC Championships, where he ultimately finished fourth.  His three-meter mark of 475.95 landed him third for All-SCIAC honors at the same meet.

Earlier this year, Miner was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week on two occasions.

Last season, Miner hauled in a pair of All-Region awards for his top-eight showing on each board.  He took sixth in the three-meter competition and seventh in the one-meter.
