Bulldogs Capture Pair of SCIAC Weekly Awards for Men’s Swimming & Diving

It was announced earlier today by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) that the University of Redlands men's swimming & diving team hauled in both weekly awards for the first time this season.  First-year swimmer Lucas Walker (Mountain View, CA) and junior diver Jacob Miner (Antioch, CA) received the honors for their individual contributions during the Bulldogs' sweep of Caltech and Chapman University on Saturday.

While uncorking a season-best mark, Walker captured the gold in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:59.71 as the only sub-two-minute showing of the race.  He also posted a season-best time of 2:09.40 to win the 200 Breast and swam on the first-place 400 Medley Relay that clocked a 3:37.92 for the fastest mark of the season.

Miner collects his second such honor this season following his accolade in mid-November.  During Saturday's meet, he finished on top of the podium in both diving events.  First, he scored 250.40 points on the three-meter board for a more-than-50-point advantage over the second-place finisher before earning 214.25 points in a tighter competition on the one-meter board.

The SCIAC athletes of the week are nominated by the member sports information directors, while the conference office determines the weekly winners.  To view all of the current honorees, please visit the SCIAC website.
