The University of Redlands and Bulldog Athletics announced the hiring of Adam Schneider as the program's first full-time Assistant Swim Coach. He began his stint with the Maroon and Gray on Monday, July 23.
"I am extremely excited to join the University of Redlands coaching staff and become a part of the Bulldog community as a whole. I believe Coach Whittemore and I will have great success and impact on our student-athletes and continue the proud tradition of Redlands swim & dive," Schneider commented.
After relocating from the East Coast, Schneider brings outstanding NCAA Division III experience from his time at The College of New Jersey. As a sprint free specialist for the Lions, he accumulated 14 All-America awards during his four-year career. He qualified for the NCAA Championships each year in the 50 Free with a top finish of ninth at the 2011 national meet. He also captured honors as a member of the 200 and 400 Free Relays.
As a senior, Schneider became the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Swimmer of the Year. He still holds the program record in the 50 Free with a time of 20.22. He also contributed to the school-record 200 Free Relay that swam a 1:30.73.
"I am thrilled to add Adam to our staff. He brings a wealth of experience from a very successful Division III program under the tutelage of highly respected Head Coach Brian Bishop. Adam will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes' success," stated Head Coach Leslie Whittemore.
Schneider completed his degree in Communication Studies in 2013 and moved into the coaching ranks on the pool deck at TCNJ in 2014. During his stint there, he has helped earn two NCAA Championships in relays as well as send a swimmer to the 2016 USA Olympic Trials. In addition to national acclaim, he has coached various conference champions in individual and relay competition.
Schneider is among the multiple new hires in Bulldog Athletics, as the department continues to make the transition from graduate assistants to full-time assistants.
