It was announced earlier today that senior Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year, as voted upon by the member head coaches.
Most recently, Jaques punched her ticket to the NCAA Division III Championships in the 200 Individual Medley, 400 IM, and 200 Breast.
During the SCIAC Championships, she competed in three individual events and four relays as a major contributor to the Bulldogs' third-place finish. Overall, she took home two championships, six All-SCIAC finishes, two school records, and a pair of NCAA "B" cut times. She won the 200 IM for the second time in her career, with this year's NCAA "B" time of 2:05.71 doing the trick. She also stood atop the podium in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.50 that reset the school and meet records as another NCAA "B" standard. In addition, she finished second in the 200 Breast with a Redlands record-setting time of 2:21.48.
Finally, she added three third-place showings in the 200 Medley Relay (1:47.03), 800 Free Relay (7:46.98), and 400 Medley Relay (3:56.72) to bring her All-SCIAC awards to six for the year.
