Senior Ellie Jaques Extends Bulldog Career with Trip to NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

It was announced late yesterday that senior Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) of the University of Redlands women's swimming & diving team has qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships, which take place Wednesday, March 15, through Saturday, March 18, in Shenandoah, TX.

Jaques returns to the national meet for the second year in a row after competing in 2016.  With her current qualification, the Bulldogs have had at least one participant at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in 27 of the last 28 years, dating back to 1989.

Jaques looks forward to competing in the 200 Individual Medley, 400 IM, and 200 Breast.  She enters the 200 IM as the 19th qualifier with a time of 2:05.71, which came as the winning mark at the recent Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.  She repeated this effort in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.50 to become the 20th qualifier for the NCAA Championships.  Finally, Jaques also has the opportunity to swim in the 200 Breast as an optional swimmer with a seed-time of 2:21.48, which landed her second at the conference final with a school-record effort.

The NCAA Championships will take place at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX.  The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and the City of Shenandoah will serve as hosts of the national meet that includes 479 swimmers and 48 divers.
