Ellie Jaques and Jeff Depew Haul in Gold at Day Two of SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships

The University of Redlands swimming & diving teams completed day two of the 2015 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships through event 14 on Friday evening in Whittier. The women currently sit in third place with 287 points, while the men are just four points shy of entering in the top-three with 216 points.

Showcasing the solid day for the Bulldogs, sophomore Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) hoisted the gold medal in the 200 Individual Medley after touching the wall with a first-place mark of 2:06.69. In addition, senior Jeff Depew (Naperville, IL) remained dominant by standing atop the podium in the men's 200 IM with time of 1:49.85, which was two seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

The night session began with the women's 500 Free, as three Bulldogs clocked quality times for coveted team points. Harp notched a sixth-place finish in the 500 Free by uncorking a time of 5:08.56, which was five seconds faster than her preliminary time. Sophomore Cassidy Cramton (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and freshman Linnae Rodriguez (Hollister, CA) finished neck-and-neck in the 500 Free to earn fourth (5:13.43) and fifth place (5:15.95), respectively, in the "B" final.

In addition, senior Haley Thiltgen (San Diego, CA) notched an eighth-place finish in the 200 IM by touching the wall with a 2:11.52-mark, while Robeznieks also took eighth in the 50 Free with a time of 24.62.

Jaques continued her stellar meet by contributing to a third-place finish in the 200 Free Relay, with a team consisting of senior Summer Harp (San Bernardino, CA), freshman Emily Waddell (Bellevue, WA), and junior Lauren Robeznieks (Tigard, OR).

For the men, freshman Harlan Long (Orland Park, IL) scored points for the Maroon and Gray with his third-place effort of 1:58.09 in the "B" final of the 200 IM.

Junior Nelson Glendinning (Philadelphia, PA) touched the wall with a 21.03-mark in the 50 Free to earn him eighth-place, while senior Eric LoPrete (Beaverton, OR) finished shortly behind with a time of 21.13 for ninth place.

The 200 Free Relay of junior Patrick Fink (San Pedro, CA), LoPrete, Depew, and Glendinning hauled in the bronze medal after completing the race with a time of 1:23.78.

On the three-meter diving board, freshman Miko Mallari (Palo Alto, CA) finished with a total score of 378.95 for eighth.

The Bulldogs continue the SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, in Whittier.​
