Redlands Competes in Annual Bulldog Diving Invitational

The University of Redlands hosted the annual Bulldog Diving Invitational on Friday at the Thompson Aquatic Center.  While competing against talented foes from UC San Diego, Azusa Pacific University, and various Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schools, the Bulldogs gained great experience amidst a fun environment.

Adam Springer of UC San Diego won both men's events, registering 254.15 points in the three-meter event and 263.35 points on the one-meter board.

For the women, Kianna Mourer shined for Azusa Pacific, as she took first place in both competitions (2k71.10 – 3M, 241.90 – 1M). 

Each diver performed six optional dives to create a grand total for each board.

Highlighting the Maroon and Gray's outing, sophomore Jessica Kolsky (Red Wing, MN) took third in the one-meter competition, amassing 198.10 points.  Freshman Lindsay Nichols (Arroyo Grande, CA) closely followed in fourth place with 197.20 points.

The duo traded places on the three-meter board, with Nichols taking sixth ahead of Kolsky's seventh-place effort.  Nichols tallied 178.90 points, which was less than one point behind the fourth-place competitor from Cal Lutheran University.  Kolsky put together a score of 177.40.

For the men, sophomore Miko Mallari (Palo Alto, CA) led the Bulldogs with his fifth-place effort (165.10) on the high dive, while sophomore Fernando Hudson (Indian Wells, CA) took sixth on the one-meter board with a score of 174.75. 

Redlands swimming & diving opens SCIAC competition on Wed., Dec. 3, with a 5:30 p.m. meet against the Beavers of Caltech at the Thompson Aquatic Center.
