U of R Softball Sweeps SCIAC Weekly Awards

The University of Redlands softball team swept Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competitor Cal Lutheran University over the weekend with wins of 11-0, 10-1, and 5-4.  Senior pitcher Danielle Stallings (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) secured Pitcher of the Week, while first-year second baseman Collette Allen (Sierra Madre, CA) snagged her second Hitter of the Week award.

Stallings registered a pair of victories in the circle throwing a completed five-inning, 11-0, win in game one and three innings of relief in the final game for a 5-4 victory. Over a combined eight innings of work, Stallings only allowed three unearned runs, eight hits, and struck out three batters. She was also money from the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored, a double, and two RBI including the game-winning base hit in the series finale. She takes the top spot in the SCIAC with a low 2.69 ERA and two wins.

Allen went 5-for-10 (.500) over the three games, scoring four runs while tallying six RBI. Her weekend was highlighted by a three-run home run in game one. As the starting second baseman in all three games, she recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with six assists and two putouts. She leads the SCIAC with 10 RBI and two homers, and also comes in second with a .391 batting average.
