Men’s Water Polo Jumps Up in CWPA Div. III National Rankings to No. 2

CWPA Division III National Polls

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) released their newest Division III National Rankings this week for Men's Water Polo with the University of Redlands coming in at No. 2.

The Bulldogs who started the season off at No. 7 in the CWPA Pre-Season Polls, dropped a spot to No. 8 in the first rankings earlier in the season, but have now found their stride jumping up six spots into a tie for 2nd with California Lutheran University.  They currently sit at 9-7, 2-1 SCIAC, collected 91 points this past week and find themselves two points off of No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer (93 points). 

Redlands had a big 3-0 week that helped push them up in the standings.  They rolled Ottawa University (AZ) 18-7 and then went into the Gary Troyer Tournament where they picked up two upsets of then No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer (9-8) and No. 4 Johns Hopkins (11-4). 

Claremont-M-S (No. 4 – 88 Points) and MIT (No. 5 – 79 Points) round out the Top 5. 

Redlands returns to the pool this weekend, Saturday, October 8 when they host Occidental College beginning at 11:00am.
