Redlands Men's Water Polo Drops Match at Pomona-Pitzer

The University of Redlands men's water polo team took the short trip West to Pomona-Pitzer to face the Sagehens in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup on Saturday morning. Despite leading in the first period, the Sagehens offense exploded to put the Bulldogs on the wrong side of a 4-15 lopsided score.

Although Pomona-Pitzer found the back of the net first, senior center defender Carl Matthews (Yorba Linda, CA) scored the equalizer less than a minute later with 5:34 left in the quarter.

The Sagehens added one more before sophomore center defender Bradley Clinton (Long Beach, CA) put one through the posts off a sweet assist from junior attacker Chris Frejlach (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) to knot the score at 2-apiece. This time, with :51 ticks left on the clock, Frejlach found Matthews to take the Bulldogs' first lead of the morning at 3-2.

The teams traded scores to open the second period, as senior attacker Spencer Allen (Long Beach, CA) scored for Redlands off an assist from senior attacker Carter Kerwin (Bakersfield, CA) to go up 4-3.

Unfortunately, that would be the last goal for the Bulldogs, as Pomona-Pitzer continued to score throughout the second half, sending Redlands home with a tough, 4-15 loss.
