It was announced over the weekend by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) that the University of Redlands men's team and 11 individuals hauled in All-Academic honors for the fall of 2018.
As a team, the Bulldogs' 22 members amassed a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the scholarly nod from the ACWPC.
In addition, 11 Redlands student-athletes received recognition for individual GPAs divided into three categories, including "Outstanding" for GPAs between 3.71 and 4.00, "Superior" for 3.41-3.70, and "Excellent" for 3.20-3.40.
Senior center-defenders Sean Todd (Highland, CA) and Ilan Dayan (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and senior utility player Mitchell Walker (Taylorsville, UT) each collected "Outstanding" accolades in back-to-back years. Furthermore, Todd becomes a three-time recipient, while Walker holds the distinction each year of his Bulldog career.
Junior utility player Kyle Jackson (Naperville, IL), senior attacker Grant Curry (San Diego, CA), first-year center Karan Akcan (Yucaipa, CA), and senior attacker Alec Todd (Highland, CA) each received "Superior" selection. Jackson collects his third such award, as Curry lands on the All-Academic list for a second time following last year's "Outstanding" selection.
Junior attacker Carter Kerwin (Bakersfield, CA), senior center Billy Clifford (Redlands, CA), junior attacker Reece Koe (Camarillo, CA), and first-year utility player Chris Allen (Fullerton, CA) were among the "Excellent" recipients. After previously receiving "Excellent" and "Superior" awards, Koe joins the list of repeat recipients as a three-time winner.
