The University of Redlands men's water polo team returned to action on Sunday for two games at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational.  The Bulldogs used a second-half comeback to overtake the Chapman University Panthers before suffering a tough 8-11 loss to Concordia University – Irvine.

During the victory, Redlands fell behind, 1-3, through the first half.  However, the Bulldogs came out of the break re-energized and ready to rally.  Over the next 16 minutes, Redlands outscored the Panthers, 8-3, for the win.  Senior attacker Grant Curry (San Diego, CA) initiated the offensive outburst with a goal before senior attacker Ty Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) evened the count less than 30 seconds later.

After the teams traded scores to make it 5-5, Redlands controlled the fourth quarter with a 4-1 run to close out the win.  Junior attacker Spencer Allen (Seal Beach, CA) and senior center-defender Ilan Dayan (Sao Paulo Brazil) found the back of the net in quick succession for the Bulldogs' 7-5 lead.

The familiar foes continued to battle through the tight contest, resulting in multiple ejections.  With 3:35 left on the clock, junior attacker Tyler Strabel (Canyon Lake, CA) stretched the Maroon and Gray's lead to 8-5 on a sweet goal.

Although Chapman mustered a late score, Redlands answered right back with sophomore utility player Jasen Swan's (Glendora, CA) goal on the ensuing possession.

At the time of posting, the box score of the Bulldogs' second contest was not available.

Redlands (1-3) looks forward to hosting the Inland Empire Classic on Saturday, September 8, and Sunday, September 9, at the newly renovated Thompson Aquatic Center.
