Redlands Men's Water Polo Stumbles to Cal Lutheran in Homecoming Match

The University of Redlands men's water polo team hosted the Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen for Homecoming on Saturday morning at the Thompson Aquatic Center.  After facing an early hole, the Bulldogs rallied back to tie it up with 4:25 to go in the third period.  However, Redlands struggled to maintain that offensive rhythm and ultimately lost this Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match by a score of 7-12.

The Kingsmen jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the first period, forcing the Maroon and Gray to rally from behind.

Redlands gained back-to-back scores from freshman utility player Jasen Swan (Glendora, CA) and junior center-defender Sean Todd (Highland, CA) to slowly change the home team's momentum.

Following a CLU five-meter goal, the Bulldogs scored the next five while keeping the Kingsmen off the board for the 7-7 tie with 4:25 left in the third period.  Junior attack player Grant Curry (San Diego, CA) bookended Redlands' scoring run, while junior attack player Aki Andersen (Laguna Beach, CA), sophomore attack player Carter Kerwin (Bakersfield, CA), and Swan also found the back of the net once apiece.

However, the rest of the game went in CLU's favor and resulted in the tough loss for the Bulldogs.

Redlands (10-14, 5-4 SCIAC) looks forward to hosting Whittier College on Wednesday, November 1, at 7 p.m.
