The University of Redlands men's tennis team hit the courts on Friday afternoon for a non-conference showdown against Division II Biola University. The Bulldogs battled back to tie it up at four apiece but fell short in a 4-5 decision.

After the Eagles nabbed No. 2 doubles, the Maroon and Gray answered with an 8-4 showing at the top slot by senior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and junior Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA). But Biola grabbed No. 3 doubles to put the Maroon and Gray in a slight, 1-2, hole to start singles.

Nonetheless, sophomore Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) won the first singles match to take a 2-2 tie.

The teams continued to go back-and-forth as the Eagles took No. 1, but Cummins finished with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6 to tie the match at 3-3. Repeatedly, Biola went up at No. 2 but Libao battled back, earning the 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 comebacker win.

Unfortunately, the Eagles rallied to win the three-setter at No. 3 for the final point.

Redlands (0-2) faces Washington and Lee on Friday, February 28, at 11 a.m on Verdieck Courts.
