The No. 20 University of Redlands men's tennis team squared off against the Whittier College Poets in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown on Verdieck Courts. The Bulldogs used a doubles sweep and solid play in singles to secure a solid 9-0 win on Saturday.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) and junior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, Ca) got things started by rallying for an 8-7(4) win. First-years Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) and Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) stretched the Bulldogs' lead with an 8-5 showing at No. 2. The Maroon and Gray completed the sweep when the No. 3 duo of senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and first-year Henry McNeal (Coronado, CA) closed out an 8-4 triumph in their regular-season debut as a doubles team.

In singles, Redlands dominated at every position without dropping a set. Lipscomb orchestrated a 6-2, 6-0 win at the top slot before Cummins sealed the deal with his 6-1, 6-2 victory on the third court.

In addition, the Bulldogs gained positive outcomes from Reznick, Libao, Yip, and McNeal.

Redlands (12-4, 4-1 SCIAC) heads to No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Friday, April 19, to face the Sagehens in conference action at 3 p.m.
