The No. 22 University of Redlands men's tennis team hit the road for the first time since February 23 and made the trek to Eagle Rock to face Occidental College in Friday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown.  Aided by a doubles sweep, the Bulldogs won the first five matches to finish en route to the 7-2 victory over the Tigers.

First, the top tandem of junior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) set the tone with an 8-3 decision.  The No. 3 duo of senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and junior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) fired off an 8-4 win before first-years Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) and Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) completed the sweep with an 8-3 result at No. 2.

In singles, the Bulldogs efficiently put this one in the books with wins in the first two matches off the courts.  Yip registered a 6-1, 6-2 performance at No. 6, while Libao prevailed over his No. 5 foe by scores of 6-4, 6-1.

In addition, Lipscomb won in straight sets at No. 1 and Reznik pulled off a three-setter at No. 3.

Redlands (10-3, 2-0 SCIAC) faces a quick turnaround by traveling to Thousand Oaks on Saturday, April 6, for a SCIAC match against the Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen at 10 a.m.
