Sophomore Brysl Libao Garners First Weekly Award of the Season for U of R Men's Tennis

The Southern Californian Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (SCIAC) weekly awards for March 11 included sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) of the University of Redlands as the Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week. Libao served as an undefeated contributor in the Bulldogs' 2-1 showing in a trio of non-conference matches of Spring Break.

Despite the team's loss against No. 19 University Mary Washington (VA), Libao won his doubles match, 8-6, at the top slot and also earned a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. After winning his doubles match in the next day's 8-1 victory over Rhodes College (TN), Libao clinched the match with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph. Finally, he earned his third doubles win of the week to put the Bulldogs on the board in a tight, 5-4 team victory over No. 34 Christopher Newport University (VA). He also tied up the team scoring at 2-2 with an essential straight-set win at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-4.

After a solid week, Libao improved to 3-1 overall in singles while posting a 3-0 mark with junior doubles partner Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA). On the singles court, he boasts a three-match win streak, all from the No. 5 slot.
