No. 11 U of R Men's Tennis Tops Two Tiger Teams in Busy Saturday

Brysl Libao follows through on a shot

The No. 11 University of Redlands men's tennis team took care of business on Saturday with solid wins over two Tiger squads.  First, the Bulldogs swept the Colorado College Tigers and then jumped into Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action with an 8-1 victory over the Tigers of Occidental College.

Against Colorado, Redlands rolled to victory in all three doubles in 1-2-3 order. Junior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and first-year Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) impressed with an 8-2 showing, while senior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and junior Tom Hanley (Winnetka, IL) earned the same result at No. 2.  First-year Cameron Krimbill (Scottsdale, AZ) and senior Cooper Lacetera (Westhampton Beach, NY) completed the doubles sweep with their 8-1 win at the No. 3 slot.

The Bulldogs maintained a high level of play in singles, as first-year Noah Morrow (Stevenson Ranch, CA) and Libao each stepped up with shutout wins at Nos. 6 and 5, respectively, to secure the team victory.

In addition, Lipscomb, Dulle, Krimbill, and sophomore Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) recorded positive outcomes in singles.

Later that day, Redlands opened conference play with an afternoon tilt against Occidental and came away with an 8-1 triumph to complete a solid outing on Verdieck Courts.

In doubles, Dulle and Hanley put the Bulldogs on the board with an efficient 8-2 win at No. 2, while Lipscomb and Libao repeated that effort at No. 1.  The No. 3 tandem of Krimbill and Lacetera kept things rolling by earning an 8-6 victory.

Redlands needed only two singles matches to secure the overall win, as Lipscomb dominated his opponent at top slot before Libao sealed the deal for the second time in as many matches.  He topped his No. 5 counterpart by scores of 6-0, 6-0 as well.

In addition, Krimbill, Leahy, and Lacetera captured singles wins for the Maroon and Gray, which led to the 8-1 decision over Occidental.

Redlands (4-1, 1-0 SCIAC) heads to Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships on Friday, February 23, through Sunday, February 25.  The Bulldogs square off against the sixth-ranked Washington University of St. Louis (MO) in Friday's match at 6:30 a.m. PT.
